The Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA) has established a specialist Humidity Control Group operating under its HEVAC umbrella. The group responds to rising market demand for standardised approaches to moisture management in buildings and industrial applications.

Humidity control remains undervalued in many facility management and design decisions despite its direct impact on structural integrity, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality. Poor moisture management increases corrosion risk, mould growth, and operational costs—factors that compound in climate-sensitive sectors from food processing to data centres.

The new group will develop industry standards, best practices, and technical guidance for humidity control systems and strategies. FETA membership encompasses equipment manufacturers, installers, and consultants across ventilation, air handling, and environmental control disciplines. The group's output will directly influence specification decisions and procurement standards among building services engineers and facility managers across the UK.

By formalising humidity control as a dedicated technical discipline within a recognised standards body, FETA signals industry recognition that moisture management warrants the same rigour currently applied to heating, cooling, and air quality monitoring.
