Glossary
Construction equipment terms explained.
District Heating Substation
Technical unit hydraulically and thermally separating the district heating network from the building's internal heating circuit while controlling energy transfer.
Underfloor Heating
Underfloor heating is a surface heating system in which pipes or electric elements beneath the floor covering radiate warmth into the room.
Chiller
Unit that transfers heat from a low-temperature level to a higher one via a thermodynamic cycle, thereby generating cooling.
Refrigerant
Refrigerants are working fluids in refrigeration machines and heat pumps that transport heat through evaporation and condensation cycles.
Refrigerant Circuit
Closed thermodynamic cycle in refrigeration and air-conditioning systems in which a refrigerant transports heat by evaporating and condensing.
Pipe Heat Tracing
Electric or medium-based system preventing freezing or maintaining temperature in pipelines inside buildings and outdoors.
Pipe Network
System of pipes for distributing heating, cooling, or domestic water throughout a building.
Pipe Network Calculation
Hydraulic design of all pipelines in a system to ensure adequate flow rates while optimising pressure losses throughout the network.
